Alfred Grünwald Park is an interesting, medium-sized neighborhood playground located just opposite the Naschmarkt. Being a playground hidden behind a gate and between residential buildings, it’s the kind of place you probably never noticed before — at least not in all those years when you were a kids-free regular Naschmarkt visitor. It’s located in Mariahilf, Vienna’s 6th district. Alfred Grünwald Park boasts several cool children’s attractions, such as a sand & mud playground, a flying fox, and a formula-style car that welcomes little visitors right after entering the park. In winter, the highlight for kids is a sledding hill — provided there is some snow, of course. Other playgrounds’ facilities include a sand pit, a slide, swings, a seesaw, a climbing facility, and a nest. You will also find picnic tables, a dog area, as well as a drinking-water fountain and a play water fountain here. Last but not least, Alfred Grünwald Park is also great for active kids and adults, since it features a football pitch and a basketball court.
