The Prater Arenawiese playground, located just opposite the Jesuitenwiese, has a cult-ranch playground, and is less-known but should definitely be counted amongst Vienna´s best playgrounds. It´s an open, natural-style playground whose highlight is the original giant swing. You won´t find many of these in Vienna, in fact the only one that compares is the giant swing in Kurpark Oberlaa. There are other play facilities on the Arenawiese playground, too – the tyres swings, for instance, are in high-demand, as is a sphere-shaped climbing installation. Various types of other swings, swinging animals, a seasaw and a sand-and-mud installation complement the offer. There is a huge round communal picnic table at the centre of the playground that is handy because there´s no cafe or refreshment kiosk in the imminent vicinity. Good restaurants and cafes in Prater are aplenty, but you must leave the Arenawiese playground to reach them. We recommend the Das Campus for a homemade hamburger, the Library Cafe for a coffee in a trendy kid-friendly ambience, the Kolariks Praterfee for the traditional Viennese cuisine and loads of kids attractions or the Allee for barbeque meat with style.
