It’s a well-known fact that Ludwig van Beethoven used to spend his summers in the countryside, frequently in the idyllic wine-growing villages in an area north-west of Vienna. The Beethoven Eroica House in Oberdöbling is where the genius music composer spent the summer months of 1803. In that year, he worked primarily on his third symphony, the Eroica.
The Beethoven Eroica House (currently closed) exhibits the musician’s works that he created in the year 1803, including the Eroica. The house recalls the atmosphere of and the life in what was an idyllic rural village back then.
Nowadays, guided tours are offered for schools and families at the Eroica House. Families and kids can learn more about the historic music composer’s works and his lifestyle as well as about the history of classical Western music.
