Fantastic Art Museum Vienna is a quirky, small specialty museum dedicated to fantasy art, one of the most important artistic movements of the 20th century. Internationally, Vienna has been one of the hubs of the fantastic realism, represented by artists such as Arik Brauer, Rudolf Hausner, Wolfgang Hutter, Anton Lehmden, Fritz Janschka, and obviously Ernst Fuchs, one of the founders of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. Many of their works are on display at the Fantastic Art Museum. Some exponates could be a bit frightening to little kids, but bigger kids generally find them super interesting and cool-seems like children and youth have natural inclination to fantastic art.
Fantastic Art Museum is located in Palais Palffy on Josefsplatz, just opposite the State Hall of the Austrian National Library and Hofburg Imperial Palace. The museum currently doesn’t have fixed opening hours; therefore, it’s recommended that you call them before coming.
