Hermann Gmeiner Park is possibly the most centrally located playground in Vienna. You will find it hidden behind the Old Stock Exchange building in the 1st district. It´s a medium-sized playground that boasts plenty of cool facilities on a limited space. First thing first, the highlight is the flying fox which classifies for the 1st place in the category “The most enchanting view from a flying fox in Vienna” – indeed, the facade of the Stock Exchange is absolutely stunning. Moreover, there´s a handful of little kids play facilities such as swinging animals, a slide, a sandpit, a seesaw. For bigger kids, there´s a giant swing that seats several kids, a spider net, a climbing installation, a nest swing. The Hermann Gmeiner Park is not very well known, but you should definitely keep it in mind as you will find it handy whenever visiting one of the many sites nearby. Be it the Jewish Museum Judenplatz, the Bank Austria Kunstforum, the Firefighting Museum, the Clock Museum, the Museum of Illusions or any other attraction or public office in the area between the Schottentor metro station, the St. Stephan´s Cathedral, and the Schwedenplatz square – playgrounds here are very rare, so it´s advisable you know them all.
