Situated in a residential area of Donaustadt, the Hirschstetten Bathing Pond is, hands-down, one of the best natural bathing locations for families in Vienna. Aside from a kid-friendly bathing beach, it also features a dog bathing area and a truly-great playground, the Hirschstetten Bathing Pond Playground. Other than that, the Hirschstetten Bathing Pond recreational area doesn´t offer much in terms of infrastructure, but still covers the basics with a buffet, picnic tables, drinking water fountain, table tennis and a beach volleyball court. The recreational area is open all year round, and is accessible 24/7 with free admission. When temperatures drop to below zero in the winter, the pond is used for ice skating (but be aware that this is not an officially-certified facility, so ice skating happens at your own risk). On those rare days when there´s snow, the area near the pond is used by families for sledding. Bathing is also free, but don´t forget to bring your own bathing equipment (e.g. towels, etc.). The destination is also great for walks, jogging, fitness training, and kids cycling.
