Indoor Jojo is a communal indoor playground operated and financed by District of Josefstadt for children aged 0 to 10 years. It is located in the basement of the elegant building of Residence Josefstadt and — despite being located underground, it offers plenty of daylight. It’s not barrier-free — in fact, there are quite a few steps to overcome, so coming with a stroller might not be really comfortable. The use of the playground is free; however, it’s only accessible during fixed times that vary based on child’s age — certain days or afternoons are reserved for kids aged 4 to 10 years, others are dedicated to babies and toddlers up to 3 years of age, and there are also sibling times when all age groups can play together. Children from the age of 3 years can be left here to play alone, as there are always professional childcarers of Wiener Familienbund available — the responsibility for children stays always with parents, though. Kids under 3 years must be accompanied by parents or other adult all the time. Besides the playroom itself, there’s an entrance area in front of it where parents of bigger kids can stay and relax while children are playing inside. Sometimes, complimentary refreshments are offered as a courtesy of the district.
