Kahlenberg Dwarf (Wichtelparcour Kahlenberg) is a small but cool forest rope park for little kids in Vienna Woods in Vienna’s 19th district Döbling, close to the border to Lower Austria. It lies on the Elisabethwiese, which is a popular meadow nestled between the summits of two of Vienna´s most important hills, Kahlenberg and Leopoldsberg. It´s part of the huge Waldseilpark Kahlenberg forest rope park, but unlike the rest of the park, there´s no entrance fee, age or height restrictions. There´s also no need to have special equipment such as helmets or belts. It´s open to the public which means you don´t need to register at the reception or undergo any instruction to use it, working just like any other playground. Except you won´t find playground equipment, but forest ropes and balance facilities where you and your kids train their climbing and balance skills. The course is at the height of 35 cm so even if they fall, it shouldn´t really be a problem. The funny thing is, above your heads, there are proper forest rope courses of the Waldseilpark Kahlenberg so now and again there might be people climbing there. Besides the climbing and balancing parcours, you will also find kind of a small playground with a jolly slide, a swinging animal, and an unusual seesaw. For a bigger playground, cross the meadow where you will find the Elisabethwiese forest playground. We highly-recommend you also account for a break at the Josefinenhütte, an alpine style mountain hut where you can enjoy a nice lunch or drink in a lovely guest garden with a fabulous view.
