Leopold Museum

This is the best-visited house in the Museumsquartier. Interested in visiting a museum in the centre of Vienna in the midst of the lively Museumsquartier? Perhaps you would be interested in combining this visit with other sightseeing attractions and perhaps staying for coffee and cake before moving on?
The Leopold Museum in Neubau is the most-visited building in the Museumsquartier, with approximately 350,000 visitors per year. You can discover numerous great works by the artists Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt, which are certainly the highlight of the museum. The Schiele Collection is the largest in the world and Gustav Klimt invites you to immerse yourself in the Vienna Secession, which he co-founded. The Leopold Collection focuses on major works by Oskar Kokoschka, as well as precious handicrafts by the Wiener Werkstätte. On display are furniture, glasses, metalworks and ceramic objects by Otto Wagner, Adolf Loos, Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser. When you’re finished, you can linger in the Café Leopold on the 2nd floor or in the nearby Dschungel Café and then move on, because around the Museumsquartier are numerous other family and children’s attractions, like the ZOOM Children´s Museum, the WienXtra Kinderinfo, the Butterfly House or many great playgrounds, including the Weghuber Park and the Ressel Park on Karlsplatz.
For kids and families: Kinderworkshops are provided for groups of children beginning at age 5, and include a short guided tour of the exhibitions and playful creative workshops focused on certain topics or paintings. For school groups consisting of older children and youth, dialog-based guided tours are offered and dedicated to topics like Life and Death, Life and Sexuality, Perception of One´s Body or Human Being in the works of Klimt, Schiele and other famous artists. For families and kids ages 6-12, there is the popular LEO Kinderatelier, which takes place on Sundays. Any child with or without an accompanying adult take a short museum tour to obtain inspiration for use in the creative workshop.
