Motorikpark 22 Donaustadt is a huge, free, outdoor activity park in Vienna´s 22nd district which can be used by both children and adults, all year round, every day, free of charge. This is not a playground, but rather a training and activity area which is nevertheless much fun for bigger children and teens.
On the area of around 2,5 ha, the Motorikpark 22 Donaustadt boasts 23 stations with over 100 pieces of equipment which were designed for both training and fun. Besides, there´s also a 700m long running trail. Finally, there´s a small fenced water playground for the littlest ones which also features a nest swing and a small slide.
The Motorikpark 22 Donaustadt is not the most-suitable place for toddlers (except for said water playground). Most activity stations here are indeed suitable for children from age of 6 or older, and children under 140cm need to be under constant supervision by an adult.
The equipment was designed by a sports scientist with the scope to develop skills such as power, balance, endurance, agility, and general fitness. The core of the activity park are stations with various climbing parkours, an orientation climbing wall, as well as obstacle and balance courses of various difficulty.
For children, the highlights at the Motorikpark 22 Donaustadt include a trampolines trail, a Different Walking course, a steel arch, a wasserski cylinder and kitefly simulator, and a giant swing. For adults and teens, there´s also a sheltered workout and power zone featuring some fitness equipment.
There´s also a small kiosk with a large outdoor seating area where you can buy simple snacks and drinks. Attached to the kiosk is a clean toilet with a baby changing station.
The only downsides of the Motorikpark 22 Donaustadt is the fact that there are not that many benches to sit and there´s very little shadows so you wouldn´t really want to come here with children on a very hot day. Also, the location might not be that suitable for some people since it´s located in an industrial area on the outskirts of Vienna, next to the Tierquartier, just behind the Ikea Nord. Coming by public transport is relatively easy though, there´s the bus line 24A which has a stop close to the entrance to the activity park (Breitenleerstraße/Arnikaweg stop). There´s also quite a large parking, this is not free though.
The Motorikpark 22 Donaustadt is one of the two Motorikpark activity parks in Vienna – the first and the bigger one of the two indeed. The other activity park is the Motorikpark 10 Favoriten, located in the Helmut Zilk Park which also features a great playground. With an area of around 1,4ha, the younger Motorikpark 10 Favoriten is actually much smaller, however, thanks to its strategical location right next to the Vienna Central Station (Hauptbahnhof), it´s super easy to reach from any part of the city.
