Schönborn Park is a lovely 10,000 sq.m. big baroque garden in the heart of Vienna´s 8th district Josefstadt. Despite its compact size, it has a lot to offer all ages with the highlight being the three playgrounds that cater to any age group. Two are suitable for little kids and equipped with traditional wooden playground equipment such as swings, slides, seesaws, sand pits. The third, located on the roof of a former bunker, is more futuristic for appealing to older children. There’s also the option for lying on one of the sunbeds or playing table tennis. The Schönborm Park offers plenty of possibilities for getting sporty – on nice days, young people from the Josefstadt area meet here regularly to play volleyball, basketball or football. For mothers, father and grandparents with prams, the Schönborn Park is an excellent place to go for a short walk, read a book and have a picnic on one of the many banks, or enjoy the sunshine and great coffee in the romantic guest garden of the Cafe Hildebrandt. On bad weather days, visit the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum) located directly in the adjacent Schönborn Palais. Next door to the Schönborn Park, is the Hilfswerk 8 Nachbarschaftzentrum with plenty of offerings for youth and families. Just a short distance away, is the District Museum Josefstadt where popular Klassik Cool! Children´s Concerts take place, and the Vienna City Hall with the Vienna City Hall – City Information office is closed as well.
