Sechshauser Park is a picturesque, tiny neighborhood playground that is a real rarity in Vienna. Sechshauser Park is hands down the most picturesque and also one of the smallest playgrounds in the capital. We bet your kids will fall in love with it at first sight. This place is situated in Rudolfsheim – Fünfhaus, Vienna’s 15th district. It’s composed of six wooden houses that are interconnected by ropes and nets to create a whole parcourse. At the end, there’s a lovely metallic slide. Stylewise, it’s something between Hundertwasser (see the Kunst Haus Vienna – Museum Hundertwasser or Hundertwasser Village Gallery for reference) and the famous narrow handicraft streets in some European cities, such as Prague’s Golden Street or Florence’s Goldsmiths Bridge. Except, here, it’s made of wood. And, unfortunately, it’s somewhat dated. Sechshauser Park is perhaps not a destination playground, but you should try to keep it in the back of your mind, so the next time you happen to be in the area with your kids, you won’t forget to come for a break here. Besides the said climbing houses and the slide, Sechshauser Park also features a sand pit, a football pitch, a basketball court, and a drinking-water fountain.
