Technically, the Streckerpark is just a small neighborhood playground in the residential area of Ober St. Veit in Vienna´s 13th district Hietzing, yet there´s something about this park that makes it so special. It´s widely known even outside the quarter borders, and it seems like all real estates agents promoting family-friendly apartments in the area use the picture of the playground in their ads and exposes to lure families. We are sure you have seen a photo of its climbing castle many times. Having said that, the Streckerpark is a lovely park and playground. We wouldn´t cross the city to come here, but for locals, it´s an excellent option. There´s the beforementioned castle-style climbing area with slides and ropes, several swings, and even a todders´ playground with a nice double-circle-shaped sandpit, a baby slide, and swinging animals. The Streckerpark is an oasis of peace, and just across the street, there´s also a lovely bakery cafe, the Bäckerei Schwarz Auhofstraße with a large summer guest garden and several great street tables where you can enjoy your Wiener Melange and the Kipferl while watching the happening in this noble district. If you like a walk afterward, possibly even with a pram, we recommend you head up to the Hackinger Schlosspark which is another unexpectedly calm green oasis with a nice playground.
