Since its opening in 2007, the Wien Museum MUSA, an art museum dedicated to Viennese contemporary art, has been extremely popular. Located in a beautiful historic building next to the Vienna City Hall, it presents Viennese art since 1945 to present. The collection encompasses about 30,000 objects by about 4,500 Viennese artists, both famed and less known. Since 2018, the MUSA has become part of the Wien Museum.
On a surface of around 600 sq metres, the exhibitions change regularly and cover either specific decades or the work of specific artists.
Particularly popular is the Start Gallery, an exhibition space for young artists to present their work and enter the market.
Collection of the contemporary Austrian art of the Cultural Department of the City of Vienna, hosted at MUSA, can be visited with free admission.
During the renovation work at the Wien Museum Karlsplatz, the Wien Museum MUSA also serves as a venue for all planned exhibitions on Vienna’s cultural history as well as related events.
