Yppenplatz Park is a quirky, medium-sized neighborhood playground right on the trendy Yppenplatz in Ottakring, Vienna’s 16th district. The playground takes inspiration from the nearby newly fashionable Brunnenmarkt food market, so the playground equipment takes the form of fruits and related objects. The unmistakable landmark of the playground is a jolly pear-shaped climbing installation, featuring an entertaining and humorous long toboggan slide that looks like a worm. Besides that, there’s also a ball sports ground and a vast modern bench area in the central area of Yppenplatz Park. It’s a pleasant place to sit and relax while your kids are playing at the playground but obviously not quite as enjoyable as the mod cafes and restaurants around the Yppenplatz, of which many are very family-friendly, such as the Cafe An-Do, Dellago, CAY (Cafe am Yppenplatz), Cafe Frida, or Pizzeria Sofi, just to name a few. Yppenplatz Park also boasts a water playground, a sand pit, swings, and a nest. Numerous sports facilities make Yppenplatz Park ever so popular with Ottakring’s youth and include a football pitch, table tennis, a volleyball court, and a basketball court.
