Experience Space at Vienna Airport is an adventure multimedia space around aviation at the Vienna International Airport which is both exciting and educational. Developed by TV star and the well-known author of children’s books Thomas Brezina, together with Vienna International Airport, it´s a special experience for children and adults alike. What does it feel like for a pilot to take-off and land? What´s the journey of the luggage after check-in? How come the arrivals and departures are minute-precise and with all the heavy airport traffic the airplanes don´t collide?
Spread on the surface of more than 600m², the most modern technology is employed to create a fascinating exhibition, divided into four thematic areas:
1. The Virtual cockpit is an oversized aircraft cockpit that allows visitors to experience the landings and take-offs from the pilot´s cabin.
2. The Tower is a replica of the 109-meter-high tower at the airport. It lets visitors discover what the airport looks like from the traffic controller´s perspective. You will also learn what measurements need to be taken for a flight to be safe and how airport traffic is managed.
3. “The way of the suitcase” is an area with an engaging multi-media installation that takes you through the complex baggage sorting system at an airport. What happens to your luggage once you put it on the luggage belt at check-in? What does it take for the luggage to reach the right destination and why does it sometimes get lost on the way? Here you´ll find out.
4. The “24-hours Vienna Airport” is an exciting installation which shows the Vienna airport as a “city within the city” that never sleeps and has its own life – 24/7, 365 days a year.
The Experience Space at Vienna Airport can be booked separately or as part of the Visitors World combo ticket, which includes the Visitors Terrace and a guided tour of the Vienna airport in a double-decker bus. Booking is possible online or on-site at the Visitors World at Vienna Airport.
