The Küniglberg Western Playground is one of the coolest playgrounds in Vienna. It features a highly-engaging theme (Ranchers and Wild West) as well as the originality and quality of the playground equipment. It´s located in Hietzing, Vienna´s 13th district, on a hill called Küniglberg and very close to the ORF Zentrum. Unlike the neighbouring hill of Roter Berg, the Küniglberg is prevalently urbanised with the only green area being the playground and its immediate surroundings. The playground is particularly-suitable in the summers because it boasts a lot of shadows and a wonderful sand-and-mud facility loved by kids of all ages. But the highlights for kids are the cool Wild West-themed play facilities, especially the plus-sized horse, bulls, rodeo, and huge bull swing. Then there´s the Westerm City. It´s a climbing installation made from several climbing houses to create a long course. There’s also a Saloon, Shop, Storage, and even a City Bank. All are interconnected by ropes and feature different climbing walls, ladders and inner areas. For bigger children, the most exciting part is the ultra-high climbing tower with a truly giant toboggan slide. It´s actually fairly-challenging to climb! The only downside is that there´s no proper woods nearby to go hiking or cycling. Nevertheless, you can walk on the Küniglberg hill and enjoy a fantastic view. You can even learn a thing or two on the Geotechnology path, a short but interesting educational path which starts just under the playground.
