Schönbrunn Zoo Vienna – The oldest zoo in the world.
Would you like a trip to one of the world’s most beautiful zoos with a huge variety of animal species in a wonderful atmosphere in the middle of Schönbrunn Palace Gardens? Vienna makes it possible! On an incredible 17 hectares you and your children can discover more than 700 different animal species such as polar bears, Siberian tigers, Arctic wolves but also lions, giraffes, pandas and other great animals in an area that has been crowned Europe’s best zoo several times. Especially the Rainforest House and the South America Park are to be emphasized as highlights. But also the extremely popular polar bear park including regular public feedings and the interactive nature experience trail will surely amaze your children: Whether treetop path, pond aquariums or outdoor terrariums – the path also has a fire salamander climbing wall and a spider web for climbing. Another attraction is the forest experience trail, which is by the way the most walked forest trail in Austria and can be found between the penguin enclosure and the Tirolergarten restaurant. The zoo can be explored on your own, as well as in the context of various (special) guided tours and also offers a shop, as well as several opportunities for culinary refreshment. A visit to the Zoo is best combined with a visit to the other attractions in the area, such as Schönbrunn Palace, Schönbrunn Palace Gardens, Schönbrunn Maze & Labyrinth, Desert Experience House or Schönbrunn Palm House. An absolute highlight for every visit to Vienna!
For kids and families: Complimentary animal feeding sessions are offered daily -the schedule can be found on the website. Special guided tours for kids and families are provided on the weekends. The kid’s birthday parties are very popular. A number of guided tours and workshops are provided for schools, kindergartens and kids groups. Their agendas can be adjusted based on the age of the participants, as well as their interests and preferences. Horse whisperer and animal care courses are provided for youth. The venue features a pretty-cool, outdoor playground in the middle of the zoo area, as well as a kids’ train, horse riding and several lunapark-style kids’ attractions. Toy wagons can be rented for carrying small children and those under 6 years of age receive free admission.
