The Auer Welsbach Park is an expansive park with several cool playgrounds in Vienna´s 15th district Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus. It´s located just opposite the Vienna Museum of Technology (Technisches Museum) and next to the Schönbrunn underground station. The most peculiar part of the Auer Welsbach Park is the activity playground (suitable for bigger kids) because while the equipment is somewhat dated, it’s still one of the most exciting ones in Vienna. There are ropes, climbing parcours, strengthening and balancing apparatuses, various hurdles, and more where children and teens can test and train their strength, balancing and climbing skills, find courage, endurance, and flexibility. Little kids can try some parts of the parkour, but will require careful supervision since most of the facilities are designed for bigger children and can be potentially dangerous to little ones. If your kids like this kind of play exercise, you should definitely try the Motorikpark 22 or the Motorikpark 10 where they can experience even more. A smaller kids playground area features age-appropriate playground facilities, such as swinging animals, little slides, a baby climbing wall, swings, a sandpit, and more. The Auer Welsbach Park is a great place to spend time when visiting the nearby Schönbrunn, because there are no free playgrounds inside the complex. There are two fun and exciting playgrounds at the Schönbrunn – Maze & Labyrinth and the Schönbrunn ZOO Vienna, but neither of them are free. While visiting the Schönbrunn Palace, Schönbrunn Palace Gardens, the Desert Experience House, Palmenhaus Schönbrunn, Kindermuseum Schloss Schönbrunn, or the Gloriette, one can conclude the experience with playtime at a nearby playground. For no additional cost, the Auer Welsbach Park is your best bet.
