Hirschstetten Flower Gardens – Insect Playground is a cool, imaginative playground situated in the beautiful Hirschstetten Flower Gardens in Vienna´s 22nd district of Donaustadt. Despite being outdated, it’s considered one of the best playgrounds in Vienna. The insects-themed playground equipment is lovely and genuinely original – some of the pieces cannot be found anywhere else in Vienna. Some kid-friendly highlights include a giant bee-shaped swing and a beecomb-shaped climbing tower with a toboggan slide, but there are other insects as well. One can find ants, bugs, spiders, grasshoppers, and butterflies, which kids can use in almost any way imaginable – be it climbing, swinging, crawling, jumping, sliding or even balancing. Another kids´ favorite is a bunch of different-shaped spider webs in horizontal and vertical patterns. Note, the Hirschstetten Flower Gardens – Insect Playground is much like the Hirschstetten Flower Gardens and the popular zoo, all of which are open to the public annually from March through October, except Mondays. During winter break, only the Palm House and the Christmas market remain open.
