Währinger Park is a lovely, medium-sized park with several playgrounds and sports grounds in Währing, Vienna’s 18th district. Although the park itself and its playgrounds aren’t massive, in terms of play infrastructure, they can beat many considerably bigger parks. The lower playground is sea-themed and suitable for all ages; in fact, its landmark is a giant wooden octopus, and other highlights include a climbing boat, sea houses, and an ultra-high climbing mast. A sand pit, swinging nests, a slide, and swinging animals are not missing either. In contrast, the upper playground features less equipment, but for bigger kids, this is the place of choice. And the reason for that is apparent: here, they can find a fantastic, giant climbing installation with a cool, curvy toboggan slide as well as an amusing balancing course, a trampoline, a small carousel, and more. In the summer, many families enjoy bathing at the Familienbad Währinger Park, located directly in the Währinger Park, too. Active kids and adults head to Währinger Park because of its many sports facilities, which include a football pitch, table tennis, a skate park, a slackline, and a basketball court.
