Ameiswiese is an agreeable, forest-style, medium-sized playground in Prater, next to the main alley (Hauptallee). It’s located in Leopoldstadt, Vienna’s 2nd district. Compared to the top playgrounds at Prater Park, the Ameiswiese is much less equipped and hence much calmer. If you are looking for a more action-packed playground, visit the usual suspects such as the Jesuitenwiese (Ranch Playground), the Arenawiese, the Meiereiwiese, the Affenspielplatz (Monkeys’ Playground), or even the Großenzersdorfer Wiese (Lusthaus Playground). However, since these are all more popular, also because they are closer to the Praterstern transport hub (except for the Lusthaus playground), they are usually also far more crowded. Having said so, Prater – Ameiswiese playground features a giant climbing installation, a sand pit, a slide, swings, a seesaw, and a swinging nest. But what really makes Ameiswiese it different from other playgrounds in Prater are its sports facilities, which include a balancing trunk, somersault bars, and some other fitness equipment. There are also picnic tables and a huge open area that can be used for workouts or kite-flying.
