The Ranch playground on the Jesuitenwiese in Prater is Vienna´s largest and possibly most-popular playground because there are numerous cool play facilities here that you cannot find anywhere else. The king of the playground is a silver giant slide for which the kids have to queue a lot waiting for their turn, thought it´s definitely worth it. Remaining on the giant and particular side, there´s another, somewhat smaller giant slide, kind of a giant swing, a flying fox and a tire carousel. Besides that there are obviously “standard” play facilities. such as many swings, a seesaw, a sandpit and more. In winter come and enjoy sledding as there´s Vienna´s most famous sledding hill here. For lunch, you can use one of the few picnic tables or make a picnic in the grass which is a popular option here, partly because there´s no cafe or refreshment kiosk in the imminent vicinity. Having said so, nice restaurants and cafes in Prater are aplenty but you need to leave the Jesuitenwiese and the Ranch playground to reach them. Once you do, we recommend you go to the Das Campus for a homemade hamburger, the Library Cafe for a coffee in a trendy kidfriendly ambiance, the Kolariks Praterfee for the traditional Viennese “Stelze” (knuckle of pork) and loads of kids attractions or the Allee for barbeque meat with style.
