The Kunsthistorisches Museum is one of the world’s most important museums. Located in the centre of Vienna, it houses one of the most important art collections in the world. You can admire works by famous artists such as Raffael, Vermeer, Velazquez, Rembrandt, Rubens and Dürer. A real highlight is the world’s largest Bruegel collection and the Kunstkammer, which only reopened in 2013, where you can admire more than 2,100 objects from the Habsburg Monarchy. In addition, there are alternating exhibitions which, depending upon your personal interest, are certainly worth a visit. There are numerous offers for children, like free guided tours on Saturdays with fixed tents, depending on age), multilingual audio guides, open children’s studios and creative family afternoons. There are also guided tours for school classes, after-school care groups, kindergartens and private groups. Birthday party celebrations in the Kunsthistorisches Museum’s studio is also an option. Afterwards, you and your family can visit the local cafe and restaurant at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien or buy souvenirs in the museum’s shop. A visit to the Kunsthistorisches Museum can be combined with a visit to the WienXtra Kinderinfo, the Schönbrunn Palm House, the Volksgarten or the Burggarten. The closest outdoor playground is Weghuber Park. This is an ideal starting point for a day of sightseeing in the city centre! We recommend a combination ticket to visit the KHM and the Imperial Treasury at a reasonable price (i.e. it does not have to be on the same day). We recoomend buying tickets online to avoid queues!
