Ghelengasse – Lindwurm Playground is a small forest playground on the expansive Lindwurm meadow in Vienna´s 13th district Hietzing. It is found on your right side when hiking or walking up the Ghelengasse to the Lainz Game Reserve and just under the lovely Gasthaus Lindwurm. The road to the Gasthaus Lindwurm is doable with a pram, but the remaining distance between the guesthouse and the playground is already a meadow so for most of the year, it’s not suitable for a pushchair (depending upon the height of the grass and plants), unless you have an all-terrain pram. The Ghelengasse – Lindwurm Playground features a few pieces of equipment, like swings, a tire swing, a small sandpit, and a surprisingly-high straight slide. For eating or drinking, we highly-recommend the Gasthaus Lindwurm, or, if you prefer something more imperial, the Hermes Café Restaurant Labstelle in Lainzer Tiergarten. The Hermes Café Restaurant Labstelle is about a 20-min. walk. To enter the Lainz Game Reserve, use the Sankt Veit Gate, which is about a 10-min. walk.
Our recommendation: In the winter, the Ghellengasse playground can be used by little kids for skiing. There´s also a small ski lift in operation (with carpet and artificial snow), that’s only available for schools and kids.
