Modern art at its finest! The mumok – Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna in the MuseumsQuartier focuses its attention on the art of the 20th and 21st centuries. Works by Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Pablo Picasso, Yoko Ono, Günter Brus and Gerhard Richter are displayed here. The largest modern art museum in Central Europe, and home to numerous collections of paintings, sculptures, photography, video, film and other temporary works by Austrian and international artists, is located in the iconic and huge bluestone building in the heart of the MuseumQuartier and Vienna. Pop Art, Photorealism, Fluxus, Nouveau Réalisme and Viennese Actionism are just some of the styles featured here. The mumok continues to grow steadily. In the future, they plan to increasingly focus on photography, video and film. A rich educational programme is offered for schools, children and young people, including Saturday creative workshops for kids ages 6 and above and Sunday family workshops for families with kids of any age. In the newly-introduced creative coding workshops, children ages 6-13 can learn different techniques to Combone text, images and music in a creative way using computers. The “mumok Overpainted Creative Art Lab” series invites young people ages 14 and above to try out different artistic techniques, experiments, sharing and networking techniques. You can ccmbine the visit to the mumok museum or to a workshop with a visit to the WienXtra kinderinfo office or to the Dschungel Café, both of which are also located in the MuseumsQuartier.
