Oben café restaurant boasts a unique location – on the top floor of the Central Library, close to Stadthalle. Much focus is put on high quality ingredients – regional, seasonal, with many ingredients being sourced directly from local farmers. You won´t find any convenience products whatsoever – everything from chicken broth to ketchup is made from scratch here. Thanks to the unique location, the Oben features a terrace with amazing view of the busy square and the Stadthalle – Burggasse transport hub down under. Moreover, there´s a spectacular long bright staircase which will take you down to the ground floor if you want (of course, a lift is available as well). The staircase is a favorite meeting and people watching place for many – however, parents with toddlers need to pay extreme attention here. The stairs can be accessed very easily from the terrace and it´s the parent´s responsibility to make sure the kids don´t fall down the stairs. For more peace of mind when visiting with little kids, we recommend you prefer the small rear terrace or the indoor seating instead.
