Paulinenwarte is a 23-metres high observation point in the heart of the Türkenschanzpark, and a short walk from the Türkenschanzpark Firefighting Playground (Feuerwehrspielplatz). The panoramic platform was opened by Emperor Franz Joseph I in 1888. It originally served as a water tower and was named after Princess Pauline Metternich, who donated many exotic plants to the park. Today, the Paulinenwarte presents a spectacular all-around view, though it´s only open in summer for one weekend each month. You must climb the 89 steps to the viewing platform, but it´s worth it. There´s a symbolic admission fee to help maintain the Paulinenwarte, but kids under 14 are free, when accompanied by an adult.
