Schweizergarten (Swiss Garden), formerly called Maria Josefa Park, is a beautiful park in Vienna´s 3rd district, the Landstraße. Initially it was a railway stockyard but has recently been redesigned on several occasions. Today, the park appeals to visitors because of its remarkable differences in altitude. Schweizergarten park is laid out like a landscaped English garden, with streams, ponds, a rose garden, and two playgrounds. One of them is more suitable for toddlers while the other, is attractive to children of any age. It´s one of the most exciting playgrounds in Vienna.Families love to cool down at the Schweizergarten Familienbad in the summer, which is also located within the park. When walking, you can see the remnants of the wall that was demolished to expand the city’s districts and ring-road. The trains run just under the park, so many kids train-watch for their favorite pastime at Schweizergarten.
