A journey into the history of film. The Third Man Museum deals with the eponymous British thriller, which was shot in Vienna after the war. The Third Man Museum takes you on a journey where you will learn about the history of the making of the film as well as the film itself. There are more than 2,500 diverse and interesting exhibits from the production. Whether it’s screenplays, cameras used at that time or the still functional cinema projector from 1936, which is an absolute highlight of the museum and still plays one short film sequence. – Very impressive. In a special exhibition, you can learn more about one of the actors in the film, Orson Welles. You gain insight into his life. Regular zither concerts round off the overall picture and invite you to the musical discovery of the numerous film sequences. Another highlight is the guided bike tour on the subject of “post-war Vienna”; please book individually. Because of its great location, this museum can be combined with a visit to the directly adjacent Vienna Naschmarkt, the House of the Sea – Aqua Terra Zoo, the ZOOM Children’s Museum, as well as the Kunsthistorisches Museum (Art History Museum) Vienna and the Natural History Museum Vienna.
For kids and families: Guided museum tours, as well as post-war and cold war guided walks and bike tours of Vienna inner city are provided for school and private groups.
