Butterfly House – An oasis of peace and relaxation.
Do you long for relaxation and peace in a wonderful tropical atmosphere surrounded by colourful butterflies flying around? Sound like a dream? That’s what it is — but a dream that can become reality!
The Butterfly House is located in the northwestern wing of the Palm House in the garden of the Hofburg Imperial Palace and is considered one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau glasshouses in the world. Here, you and your family can watch hundreds of free-flying butterflies flying around in an artificially created rainforest atmosphere and simply enjoy the peace and beauty of this experience. Surrounded by waterfalls, small ponds, and bridges, you will find a great sight, where you can also find information about the butterflies on the display boards. A special highlight is definitely the huge Atlas butterfly, with its enchanting colouring and a maximum wingspan of up to 30 cm — both fascinating and beautiful at the same time.
For kids and families: Various learning materials, suitable for kindergarten through school-age children, is available for download on the website featuring butterflies, themed-drawing, painting and craft booklets. Guided tours for schools, kindergartens, and children and youth groups can be booked in advance.
