Kunsthalle Wien MuseumsQuartier

The Kunsthalle Wien is a highly-acclaimed exhibition space that presents a very high standard of international contemporary and modern art as well as contemporary applied art. It has two locations – the bigger one is in Museumsquartier, while the smaller one is the flexible space on Karlsplatz square.
The Kunsthalle Wien MuseumsQuartier is found in the heart of the MuseumsQuartier, near the Hofburg Imperial Palace, in the former Baroque winter riding hall, which got a functional annex. This unique combination of the historical structure and contemporary architecture, which now houses modern and contemporary art, makes the visit to the Kunsthalle Wien MuseumsQuartier a unique experience.
It features a wide range of educational activities for children, youth, families, and schools, including creative workshops, art talks, and conversational guided tours. All formats are age-appropriate and designed for different age groups. Workshops and events are aimed at making young people think critically of contemporary art, think outside the box, and get creative. The exploration of the connection between life, social events, social development and movement and their expression in contemporary art is another focus of the educational activities of both, the Kunsthalle Wien MuseumsQuartier and the Kunsthalle Wien Karlsplatz.
A visit to the Kunsthalle Wien MuseumsQuartier can be combined with other family activities. With the gallery located in the MuseumsQuartier, you are close to other great kid-friendly museums such as Leopold Museum, ZOOM Children´s Museum, or mumok. Another combination alternative would be the Dschungel Theater, a popular theater for kids and youth housing the Dschungel Café, a favourite family cafe restaurant. Alternatively, simply stop by the WienXtra Kinderinfo to find plenty of advice on kids’ activities in Vienna while kids can play on a nice, free, indoor playground. The nearest outdoor playground is Weghuber Park.
