Helmut Zilk Park is a vast new park in the Sonnwendviertel quarter of Vienna´s 10th district, confining on the Hauptbahnhof (Vienna´s Main Train Station). With its 40,000 sq.m., the Helmut Zilk Park is the largest park created in Vienna in the last 40 years. There´s an extensive green in the central part of the park for playing ball sports, chilling or having a picnic. The highlight of the Helmut Zilk Park for both kids and adults is the Motorikpark 10 Favoriten, the second Motorikpark in Vienna. The first and much bigger one was the Motoikpark 22 Donaustadt in the 22nd district, the Donaustadt. Another highlight for children is the playground, which boasts several attractive pieces of playground equipment, including a challenging climbing tower with a cool giant curvy toboggan slide and water playground. The park also features a dog area and several dog stations. The only downside of the Helmut Zilk Park is the fact that there´s almost no shadows since the trees are newly-planted and still too small. With respect to food, the easiest option is the ParkCafe Der Mann, located directly in the Helmut Zilk Park. It’s is barrier-free and features a nice terrace, a small but nice indoor playground, a public toilet, and a baby changing station. You can even borrow a picnic hamper and basket! Close to the Helmut Zilk Park is Hotel Schani, where you will also find a nice Cafe Hotel Schani and the Urban´s Lounge Restaurant. Ambitious urban gardeners can make their urban gardening dreams a reality at the community garden, the Sonnwendgarten.
